Gas Oil

Gas Oils are middle distillates with boiling point ranging between 160-360 ºC that are widely used to power heating systems, generators, industrial machineries and different motor engines.

Tipically, Gas Oils to be used in marine engines have a flash point above 60 ºC as those matching the ISO 1287 standard for Marine Gasoils while railroad and automotive engines have a flash point above 55 ºC. Gas Oils to be used in other general motor engines and machinery applications could have a flash point above 40 ºC. Gas oils are manufactured in different grades such as summer, intermediate and winter grades, according to the season. During the Autumn and Winter seasons, Gas Oil is manufacted with additives to improve its combustion properties and avoid prospective problems with fuel solidification in adverse climatic conditions. Each country has their own requirements according to the particular climatic conditions experimented during the different seasons. The maximum sulphur content allowed in the Gas Oil used in the European Community is 0.1%, while from Middle East is common to obtain Gas Oil with a higher sulphur content up to 0.5%.
